Islamabad (/ɪzˈlɑːməbæd) ( Urdu: اسلام آباد, romanized: Islām Ābād) 14 August 1967 exactly after the 20 years of countries independence Islamabad officially became the capital of Pakistan. Karachi was the First Capital of Pakistan, which was selected by Muhammad Ali Jinnah. It remained the Capital until 1959, The President of Pakistan, Ayub Khan, decided to shift the capital from the coastal city of Karachi in Sindh to Islamabad in the north of Pakistan. During the building of capital, Rawalpindi was the interim Capital. Meanwhile In 1962, East Pakistan’s “ Dhaka ” was made the legislative capital of the country due to high population. Construction: Construction began in 1961 with an effort to blend traditional Islamic architecture with modern patterns and requirements.
